Context characters are the animals that will help learners study the six lenses of context throughout the years. They will also teach us about the characteristics of God embodied by each animal. This unit is an introduction to the animal characters.

To keep track of the different characteristics of God embodied by the six animals, create an anchor chart that includes their names. As you’re introduced to each character, add what you’ve learned about the animal, and what the animal teaches us about God to your chart.

  • Clyde the Camel will help learners better understand the cultural lens.

  • Grace the Gazelle will help learners better understand the geographical lens.

  • Henry the Hyrax will help learners better understand the historical lens.

  • Victoria the Vulture will help learners better understand the visual lens.

  • Levi the Lion will help learners better understand the literary lens.

  • Lilly the Lamb will help learners better understand the linguistic lens.

For this unit, it will be helpful to have visuals that represent the context characters. You can either print off the character cutouts and put them on popsicle sticks or you can order a set of plush toys (coming soon).
